Dating Your Spouse by Dan – date 3 of 52

Hey y’all! I hope everyone had SNOW much fun last week! [see what i did there… :p] That snow storm was crazy!! It definitely put a damper on our date night this week but with a little cooking together, conversation, and movie time, we made it work and had fun still!! I have been using my phone during our dates for pictures because i don’t want to lug a camera around with me, some dates I will probably bring it along though! So it won’t be all phone shots 😀

We were going to have a fun and unique date this weekend. Sam and I were both really looking forward to it, but sadly the winter storm canceled those plans. We decided to make the best of it, and took advantage of the snow day. We had another at home date night without a babysitter since everyone was snowed in. We had fun with the kids Sunday afternoon. We built a snowman, had snow ball fights, and attempted to build a fort. After that we went to Trench Hill at Mary Washington University and went sledding. I guess this is a popular spot that locals go to when it snows. All the snow was nice and packed down by the time we got there which was perfect. There were a lot of families there sledding with their kids. We met one couple that said they’ve been sledding Trench Hill every time it snows for 28 years! We went up and down a bunch of times and really wore them, and ourselves out. We went out and had dinner as a family with the kiddos. They fell asleep on the way home and we just brought them straight to bed so Sam and I could start our date night! We chose to go with a movie night and made snow cream together. I don’t know where snow cream came from, I grew up in Northern Maine where we typically have snow on the ground from November to about April and I’ve never even heard of it. I guess Sam used to make it when it snowed growing up. Needless to say, it’s fun to make and pretty good. We made two flavors together, vanilla and strawberry. Then we picked a movie from Netflix to watch together. Altogether, Sam and I agree that this isn’t a go to “date”. Although there was conversation while making snow cream, there isn’t much conversation during a movie, especially when Sam falls asleep halfway through the movie 😉 I don’t blame her since we had an exhausting day. It is a good date though if your needing time together, need a quick inexpensive date, or your just snowed in! We have a fun date planned next week, and I can’t tell you what it is, except that it’s a group date. It should be really fun and I can’t wait to share it with you all!
